Bring one of your existing fittings when possible and compare threads and seat styles side-by-side. If you are mixing standards, use the correct adapter rather than forcing threads.
Match pressure, flow, and temperature ratings
- Know your machine’s rated PSI and GPM. Choose parts with equal or higher ratings.
- For hot-water use, confirm the part’s listed max temperature (many components list 180–200°F). Always check the individual product specification.
- Verify chemical compatibility of seals (for example, fluoroelastomer or EPDM) if you apply detergents.
- Replace worn O-rings and filter screens to prevent restriction, leaks, and pressure loss.
Before changing fittings, hoses, guns, unloaders, or nozzles, shut down the engine or motor, open the trigger to relieve pressure, and allow hot systems to cool. Re-pressurize slowly and check for leaks.
