Winter Pressure Washing Maintenance Checklist

Winter Pressure Washing Maintenance Checklist Prepared for Contractors by PowerWash.com. Winter is the most important time of year to protect your pressure washing and soft washing equipment.

This checklist is designed to help prevent freeze damage, reduce spring downtime, and extend the life of your investment.

Pressure Washer & Pump

  • Change pump oil according to the manufacturer’s specifications
  • Inspect seals, packings, and plungers for wear or leaks
  • Flush the pump with pump saver or antifreeze
  • Test the unloader valve for smooth operation
  • Inspect the pressure gauge accuracy

Hot Water Machine & Burner System

  • Drain and winterize the heating coil completely
  • Inspect burner fuel nozzle, electrodes, and air band
  • Replace the fuel filter if needed
  • Top off the fuel tank and add fuel stabilizer
  • Check battery voltage and clean terminals

Soft Wash Systems & Chemicals

  • Flush soft wash lines with water or a safe solution
  • Inspect diaphragms, valves, and fittings on pumps
  • Drain or protect proportioners and injectors
  • Store sodium hypochlorite properly and discard expired product

Hoses, Guns & Accessories

  • Drain all pressure and garden hoses completely
  • Inspect hoses for exposed braid or damaged crimps
  • Replace trigger guns that leak or trickle
  • Clean and inspect nozzles and surface cleaners

Trailer, Skid & Vehicle

  • Secure all tanks, reels, and mounted equipment
  • Inspect plumbing for low spots that trap water
  • Lubricate reels and swivels as applicable
  • Clean and organize rig for spring readiness

Safety & Training

  • Inspect and replace damaged PPE
  • Review winter slip and freeze hazards
  • Update safety signage and decals
